Ceramic crowns are often referred to as "Caps". They cover all remaining portions of the natural tooth when a large amount of structure has been lost through extensive tooth decay, trauma or for cosmetic reasons. As such they provide "full tooth coverage". Historically, crowns could be constructed from several different materials like gold or metal crown with ceramic coating. However, ceramic dental materials have undergone a great technological evolution and the totally ceramic crowns allow a great resistance and aesthetic high, with a copy of the physical characteristics and visual behavior comparable to the natural tooth. In this way, except for very specific indications, the metallic materials are no longer used.

There are several types of ceramic available, each with its particular type of indication.
With the technological evolution, the ceramic and hybrid materials allow increasingly thinner thicknesses, allowing the maintenance of more and more natural dental tissue, reducing the structural commitment of the tooth resulting from the preparation of the tooth for the execution of a crown.

CAD-Cam ceramic and computer milling systems allow the execution of computer "drawn" crowns and "printed" in a specific milling system from prefabricated blocks of the various types of ceramics that are worn by a robot programmed in the "Virtual laboratory".

However, in cases of high aesthetic requirements, nothing replaces the artistic ability of a Ceramic Dental Technician, who has the technical knowledge and artistic ability to build dental structures that can change lives!

In the Dentarmed Clinic we have a set of Dental Prosthetic Laboratories are our collaborators with great experience and who give us the confidence and the guarantee of excellence that the executed works of the best quality.
